Mineral: Mendipite & Paralaurionite
Location: Merehead Quarry, Mendip, Somerset, England
Info: Paralaurionite and mendipite are rare lead chlorides and Mendip is the type locality for mendipite. The rich vein of pearlescent, pinkish mendipite and more yellowish crystals of paralaurionite are grown on crusts of manganese oxides. Rare and rich combination material from this well-known, old classic UK locale. The specimen was examined by Mike Rumsey from the NHM, London- an experienced expert for this locality- during the last Munich Show. Ex David Shannon collection, comes with his label.
